My name is Kenny Stier. When I was four, I started using the family computer. Those were the days of the now obsolete Windows XP. With dial-up internet that ran at turtle speed, I was restricted to what Windows XP had built into it, and some software we had on discs. At that age, I was fascinated with Paint and Pinball. When those got boring, I went hunting, exploring every setting and program that I could find. When I was nine, I received my first hand-me-down laptop, still on XP. That year for 4-H, I did computers. In the manual, there was a page on open source software and Linux. It talked about Knoppix, and I wanted to try it. When I got it working, I was amazed! There were hundreds of free programs and games; for free! The only disadvantage was that it wouldn't install to a hard drive. When I was eleven, I received the dreaded. The infamous Blue Screen of Death. Eventually, some people I talked to and my uncle switched me to what they were using: Ubuntu. When I was twelve, I went to the Barnes & Noble store in Newport, KY. There, I picked out a book on web design.

HTML & CSS: Design and Build Websites by Jon Duckett

In about a week, I had read the whole thing. I have tested many Linux distributions and now program in HTML5, CSS3, and Bash. I am currently reading Jon's second book in the series: Javascript and JQuery and creating a Linux distro, Trenta OS"
